i think it’s at least partly because of that cato scene in the movie that people are treating the characters that way

that scene was great but like

cato expressing dismay that he was raised in a culture where the only thing he could do to distinguish himself was murder innocent children

doesn’t ameliorate the fact that he chose to major in child murder at the child-murdering academy
